John F. Kennedy High School offers a variety of classes for most students. The school has shown consistent improvements on state exams as reported in the Chicago Sun-Time. Kennedy High School offers a general academic and college preparatory program with additional concentrations in computer oriented technology and business.

CPS Scholars
The Advanced Honors Program is designed to provide accelerated oppor ttinities for freshmen and sophomore students leading to Advanced Placement courses in junior and senior year. To qualify for the program, students must meet the selection criteria.

Career Development
The Division of Career Development gives students an opportunity to do progressive training in these fields: Information Technology, Accounting, Computer Aided Drafting and Cabinet Making, Computer Maintenance & Repair.

Enrollment
Kennedy High School has two Options for Knowledge programs, one in Liberal Arts/College Preparatory, and one in Othenta to Technology. Students are received from across the City of Chicago. Eighth grade students may apply during the options enrollment period, which is October 15th through December 20th. Accepted students are notified by letter.

Students who reside in the Kennedy attendance area will either register in the feeder elementary school or have their parents or guardians bring a photo ID and proof of residency (utility bill) to the school to register. Kennedy High School, located on the southwest side of Chicago approximately ten miles from the downtown area, is easily accessible via both public and private transportation along the Stevenson Expressway, Archer Avenue, and 63rd Street Kennedy High School can also be reached from the Orange Line on the 55th Street bus.
